Help & FAQ
Simple answers to the things most likely to interrupt a raid.
New to raiding? Check the Glossary for terms like aggro, HoTs and tankbusters.
The microphone is not working, or I blocked it. What should I do?
In Chrome or Edge, click the lock or site-controls icon beside the address. Set Microphone to Allow, then reload the page. Check that the browser has selected the microphone you actually use for Discord. On Windows, also open microphone privacy settings and allow microphone access for desktop apps. If another program has taken control of the mic, close it and try Start listening again.
Why do raid leads need Chrome or Edge?
Those browsers include the free speech recognition Raid Remind uses to turn the raid lead’s voice into text. Firefox and Safari on desktop do not support it in the same dependable way. Raiders are only reading the result, so they have more browser choices.
Can raiders use any browser or a phone?
Yes. Raiders can use a modern browser on a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. Your fight notes have phase tabs, diagrams, your position or zone, cooldowns, and jobs. The separate Raid Leader Captions panel shows the live transcript on the same page.
I see “Raid code not found,” or nothing appears. What happened?
Check every letter in the code and ask whether the raid lead has started the raid and still has it running. The lead may have pressed End raid, or an abandoned raid may have expired after about 12 hours without activity. Ask the raid lead for a fresh code if the old one is closed.
How do personal fight notes work?
The raid lead chooses Add fight to start a fight by hand, or Import assignments to upload a phase-based CSV file; either way, the pop-up editor opens, where they prepare phases, pictures or diagrams, and each player’s positions, cooldowns, and jobs. Save puts the fight on the lead’s page; “Send <fight> notes” shares it with the raid. You see only the assignments for your character, with healer or Power Infusion cards where relevant. Enter your character name exactly as the lead has it. Only the browser that started the raid can send or change notes.
Can I join before the raid lead sends notes?
Yes. Join with the raid code and your character name. You’ll see “You’re in! Waiting…” until the lead sends fight notes.
What are phases and diagrams?
A fight can have up to 10 phases, each with its own picture or diagram and player assignments. Use the phase tabs to check your notes, and tap a diagram to enlarge it.
I typed my name wrong / it says “No notes for <name>”
Use “Switch raider / leave” and rejoin with the exact character name your lead used. “No notes for <name> in <fight>” can also mean the lead has not added notes for you in that fight.
Do I need to refresh to get new notes?
No. Notes and captions update on their own. When the lead re-sends a fight, you see the new notes right away.
Why are captions wrong or slow?
Browser speech recognition works best with clear, short sentences and a brief pause between callouts. Use a good headset mic, reduce background noise, and avoid talking over other people near the microphone. Unusual character and boss names may sometimes be heard as ordinary words, so keep the most important callouts short.
How do I set the loot system?
On the lead page, find Loot System below Fight notes. It’s optional: Not set shows only the dropdown. Choose Soft Res, Loot Council, EPGP, Hard Reserve, Need over Greed, DKP or Other. Any chosen type lets you add rules or a link in up to 2000 characters; Other also has a box for your system’s name, up to 40 characters. Press Save to share it with raiders without a refresh. “Edited” shows the saved time. Only the browser that started the raid can save these settings.
How do soft-reserves work?
Pick Soft Res in Loot System to open the softres.it box, then paste your softres.it raid link and press Load. Press Refresh after people change their reserves. If softres.it can’t be reached, save a CSV from the softres.it raid page and use Upload CSV. Show reserves lets the lead check everyone’s list, and Remove clears the loaded reserves. Raiders see only their own reserves, matched by character name, so the spelling must match softres.it; capitals don’t matter. Creating, locking and editing reserves still happens on softres.it.
Where did the Soft-reserves card go?
The controls are now inside the Loot System card, directly under the dropdown when you pick Soft Res. Switching to another type only hides the controls; loaded reserves are kept. If reserves are already loaded and no loot type is saved, Soft Res is preselected. Press Save when you want to share the loot type.
What do raiders see?
Raiders see Raid Leader Captions, then the Glossary card, then a read-only Loot System card in the right-hand column. The loot card shows the loot type, or the custom name for Other, the rules with clickable links, the Edited time, and only their own soft-reserves—never anyone else’s. It updates without a refresh. The card stays hidden if the lead has set nothing and that raider has no reserves.
What's the Glossary on my raider page?
It’s a quick lookup card below the captions. Type a term like aggro or HoT, pick All, General, WoW or FFXIV, and you’ll see up to 8 short definitions. “See all in full Glossary” opens the full Glossary page in a new tab, so you don’t lose your place. On phones the card starts folded; tap it to open. The small Glossary link in the top bar also opens the full page.
Does the OBS overlay have ads?
No. The OBS overlay never shows ads and never loads ad code.
Is Raid Remind free?
Yes. It uses free speech recognition built into the raid lead’s browser, with no paid transcription service behind each line. Light ads may appear later on the lead and raider pages only to help cover hosting. The overlay stays ad-free.
Do I need an account or download?
No. There are no accounts, passwords, extensions, or downloads. The raid lead opens the site in Chrome or Edge, and raiders join with a link or short code.
